Haiti Emergency Relief Fund - Aid goes directly to grassroots Haitians. No overhead. No saving the money for another disaster. This is Haitian guided aid assessment/distribution/solidarity."Solidarity needed, not charity" - Board member Mariliyn Langlois describes the work of the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund (HERF). Six month report back from Haiti with Robert Roth.

What If Foundation - Go to their earthquake page and blog. Feeding about 10,000 a hot meal every week in the earthquake aftermath, Monday thru Friday. Currently serving 1800 meals/week, a great improvement. What If? is more productive and effective at less cost than a lot of the big NGOs. What if? is staffed with Haitian volunteers.  Six month update. 

Partners in Health/Haiti- This wonderful organization that has worked in Haiti over 20 years. For background material read "Mountains beyond Mountains" by Tracy Kidder. Watch MTV track 8 million in donations to PIH raised by the Hope for Haiti Hollywood telethon.  MTV travels with a shipment of medical supplies purchased with money raised by the telethon, from Florida to Cange, Haiti just in time to help a lot of people, Donations in Action.  Three month report. Six month report. 

Doctors without Borders- Been in Haiti already 19 years. They have 3000 Haitian and 400 international aid staff. As of March 11 have treated 40,000 people, performed 3,500 surgical procedures, distributed 7000 tents. On March 3 they announced they would expand post-operative services.Map of medical activities. Three month report. Six month report.

Lawyer's Earthquake Response Network (LERN) -LERN was launched January 17 and within the first two weeks over 259 lawyers, law professors and law students joined. LERN is a national network (US) of lawyers working with Haitian lawyers to implement a legal response to the earthquake in Haiti. LERN employs a human rights-based approach to advocate for the victims of the earthquakes and reduce Haiti's vulnerability to future natural, political and economic stresses. Projects include fighting for safe housing, long-term effective international assistance to Haiti and immigration opportunities in the US. 

Fonkoze is Haiti's alternative bank for the organized poor and largest microfinance institution in Haiti serving more than 55,000 women borrowers, most of who live and owrk in the countryside of Haiti, and more than 15,000 savers. With its network of 37 branches covering every region of Haiti, it is also the only MFI that is truly national in scope. Services include micro-credit, business development loans,  money transfer (send money to family in Haiti for a flat fee of $6.00), literacy, business skills,social impact monitoring, etc.
